Our Catchment

The trusts work extends over a 900 square mile catchment. The majority of work is concentrated on the small tributaries and feeder streams, as these are the “Arteries” of a river. If they are healthy – the main rivers will be healthy. However this is no small task, as there are a significant number of small tributaries, and very few people realise just how many there are. To try and demonstrate this we have included several maps of the Ribble, Hodder and Calder, showing all of what the trust consider important tributaries, these all support various invertebrates,  fish, birds and mammal species.
