Point source pollution caused by discharges from the industry

This is pollution that comes from a single place. Such as an outlet from a paint manufacturing business. There are many industries that use water in their manufacturing process, or manufacture liquid chemicals. It is possible that the water used may become polluted and leak into the rivers, or the chemicals being made themselves may leak into the rivers and streams.

What can you do?

Only buy products from companies’ that manufacturing processes are environmentally sound.

Report to the Environment Agency any fish kills, strong chemical smells or strange colours in water courses.
