Catch and Release Badge Scheme 2009

The Ribble Catchment has one of, if not, the highest rates for catch and release of Atlantic Salmon in the UK.  Recently other rivers have seen a slight drop in the numbers of fish returned to the water to continue on to spawn.  To help reward and encourage our anglers on the Ribble Catchment we are introducing a Catch and Release Badge.  These have been used to great effect in Scotland and we hope that the same will happen here.

How it works:

It is open to any angler who fishes the Ribble catchment, not just members of the trust.

You will first need to catch and then release a Salmon (no mean feet!).

Then you will need to down load a simple form (here), and take 2 minutes to fill it in.

Then send this back to us with £2.

In a change from the original plan we encourage you to send you form in straight away and we will then send out your badge immediately!

The Atlantic Salmon Trust’s Annual Auction

The auction is set to begin mid January, but you can already bid on some of the lots right now! Take a look at the Atlantic Salmon Trust's website for further details, and keep an eye out for the Ribble Trust's unmissable package which features quality fishing opportunities on both the Ribble and Hodder. The auction is the AST's principal fundraising event which helps them continue their important work to secure the future of Atlantic salmon and sea trout.
